it's been a long time since I thought Naruto was interesting, but now it's definitely a mess. I'll just wait for it to end, and read a summary.

so, if you have a Sigg water bottle, you should read this!

http://mysigg.com/bulletin/exchange_program.html

because of how they misinformed people about the content of their old liners.

I've got an older bottle, and while I still like it, I think i will exchange it.

In all seriousness

if you know of a bio lab in the Boston area that is looking for a lab technician: part time, full time, contract

Tell them I'm looking, I'm not experienced but I want to learn and will work hard, and I'm desperate.

Okay, leave out the last bit.

holy crap old HP wank [23 Aug 2009|01:40pm]
my god. So, this fanfic writer from the HP times published a set of books that are supposedly being optioned for movies.

http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/38470222.html

Begeezus, it's Cassandra Claire of some HP stuff I don't remember and the very secret diaries stuff, which I though was hilarious.

She is the subject of huge, huge, wank for plagiarizing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", Pamela Dean (I know I've read "Tam Lin", but I remember thinking the book was too flowery for me to get through. Now I think I should try again), and other sundry notables in her fic. I think first, she denied, then acknowledged and said it should be okay.

I'm almost positive I read her fic before. But it clearly didn't make a big enough impression if I forgot it already. hah.

A huge, detailed post of what happened with her fiction, her rabid fans, etc, is here.

http://www.journalfen.net/community/bad_penny/8985.html

Linking and posting, so I remember to finish reading it some day.

Maybe.

It's really long.

Hilarious though. Especially if you skim.

eta: ahhh a comment from Patricia C. Wrede regarding pastiche and homage. :3 I love her "Enchanted Forest" books. And uh. Once, I said, "None of this nonsense, please" and SOMEONE RECOGNIZED IT. I was so, so happy. Oh, and her descriptions of homage and pastiche were informative.

eta2: must remember to look for C. J. Cherryh's Russian fantasy books. Rusalka, Chernevog, and Yvgenie, apparently. Supposed to be loosely based on fairy tales.

Much to my sadness, scans_daily on livejournal was shut down and has been so for a month. I didn't check it often, due to the massive amounts of comics I was not interested in that were discussed, but that was not always the case.

As with many others, I got into a lot more comics by checking what people were posting. Let me think.

Hopeless Savages
Courtney Crumrin, which is one of my favorite comics.
Deux ex Machina
Global Frequency
Runaways, which I started but forgot about until I saw more scans at that community.

I'm sure there were more, and if I had all my comics in front of me, I'd know.

Dammit, I think I lost my Courtney Crumrin books, and now I have to buy them again. augh :(

and omg, all my Jim Butcher books were in that box too. NOOOooooo. Wow. I'm so angry now.

Looks like the internets got to someone's wikipedia entry too. I wonder how long it will take until it gets changed.

QUICK.

look in the mirror. Raise your eyebrows.

Does your forehead wrinkle?

Are you Asian?

Do you have a big forehead?

Seriously. I just realized my forehead doesn't wrinkle when I do that, and I'm trying to figure out why. Heaven forbid people think I had botox.

so apparently, I won about 8 ebay bids for european sportswear from ebay-Italy.

OR SOMETHING

WTF? I made this ebay account ages ago to make an inquiry on an item that I decided to not bid on, and then left it alone.

I didn't check the email account associated with it for 2 weeks, and suddenly my mailbox is flooded with
1) you have won items!
2) you haven't paid for items!
3) your account has been suspended!

seriously, about 20 emails worth.

So, the account is suspended. Not that I care, because I don't the idea of buying things off ebay.

And, uh. I wonder why it's not suspicious that the account was created, never used, and suddenly the user buys 8 items from ebay.

Anyways, I don't care if the account is suspended, but I do feel bad for the sellers.

talking to ebay about it, but whatever, eh?

And yeah, I checked my credit card and whatnot to make sure there wasn't any suspicious spending. Thankfully, no automatic payment associated with this account or I'd have a load of crap on my hands.

I do not enjoy watching the Olympics, barring anything that looks like a race.

On a side note, my entire family was so shocked to see a Singaporean girl make the finals in a swim race. They cheered for her the whole time.

I have 4 Mercedes Lackey books, hardbacked, and I want to sell them. They're the 3 Mage Storms books (Storm Warning, Storm Rising, Storm Breaking) and "Brightly Burning".

Anyone know the best way to sell them? Powells.com will only take one of them =_= Ideally, I want to get rid of them all at one go.

hey dudes. I've posted this on my normal (soon to be closing) blog, but I know you are all on LJ. :P

Any suggestions on blogging platform other than movabletype? I like it, but it's ponderous and I remember it being horrible to setup.

Or maybe it's because I did it in a hodgepodge way.

anyways! suggestions? ^_^

I'm looking up hairdos [13 May 2008|12:02am]
Trying to grow my hair out, but straight hair is REALLY boring.

I'm looking at this site for hairstyles. Is it stupid of me to not want to look too asian? Like, those annoying college student asians? They really annoyed me.

alright, I've been reading a lot of craft blogs, and I'm a member of craftster.org JUST so I can possibly, in the future, post anything I finish.

I want to make amurigurumi, and YES I spelled that wrong, and no I am not googling it right now. >:P

One girl made star wars ones, with her boyfriend doing the sculpy bits. And she also did Lord of the Rings ones. Supercute.

And mostly, I wanted to make something like this. Ah, I still love toys too much. :(

Also! How to Eat a Cupcake! I was lured here by neapolitan cupcakes. mmmm. cupcakessss.

you know, I want the friends whose weddings I attended to send me a fucking thank you note for the wedding gift I gave them.

nothing excuses you from this. NOTHING. For one, it's been 2 months. For the other, it's been 4 YEARS.
